The aim is to be at the forefront of AI and new technologies, and for AI technology to streamline legal processes. The initiative is expected to enable the firm to increase its focus on more complex legal issues.

Moll Wendén Advokatbyrå and the legal tech company Leya Law have started a strategic partnership. During the spring of 2024, Moll Wendén has implemented Leya’s AI service. All of the firm’s lawyers now have the opportunity to experience how AI can facilitate and streamline parts of their work.

– Like many others in our industry and in the business world in general, we see great potential in using AI in some parts of our workflow, says Henric Stråth, partner in M&A at Moll Wendén. We have recently evaluated several different AI solutions and have after careful consideration decided to move forward with Leya and its dedicated team.

– We are very excited about the partnership with Moll Wendén, says Max Junestrand, CEO of Leya. We feel that they share our vision of enabling lawyers to focus on the strategic part of their work using the power of technology.

Some of the functions that Leya can provide are the ability quickly summarise and review documents. The aim of the partnership is to find a number of use cases where the firm clearly sees that Leya can streamline all or part of the legal process. In the long term, the hope is that the use of Leya will lead to a different distribution of the time that lawyers spend on different parts of the process.

– For us, the use of AI is a step towards avoiding manual and repetitive steps so that we can spend our time on what creates the most business value for our clients, says Henric Stråth.

Mashup is a meeting place for 300 of the Nordic region’s and Europe’s most ambitious startups and prominent investors. The conference aims to build relationships between participants through spontaneous meetings and personal conversations, and takes place in the creative and collaborative city of Malmö. With activities such as panel discussions, mingling and pitch sessions, the event focuses on collaboration and community.

Mashup is a conference designed for ambitious startups (from pre-seed to Series A) and prominent investors and VC firms in Europe as a target audience. By offering several opportunities for spontaneous and personalised meetings during the conference, the aim is to create a close community between startups and investors.

– Creating meeting places where companies and investors can come together is crucial for driving growth and therefore we are very pleased to be able to participate as a legal partner, said David Klose, lawyer and partner at Moll Wendén. Malmö is located in a region characterised by collaboration and creativity, which makes it the perfect place for an event like Mashup.

During the conference, participants will take part in panel discussions, joint dinners, mingling, pitches and roundtable discussions, among other things.

The focus of the conference is to give founders and investors a unique access to each other and promote fundraising in startups. The conference is open to invitees only; startups and investors wishing to attend apply via the Mashups website.

– We have created the event that we ourselves want to attend, said Per Ögren, co-founder of Mashup. After attending some of the top tech events in Europe, we realised that there was a lack of a meet-up that focused on quality and access to the right people in the ecosystem. That’s why we’re building Mashup and Malmö is perfectly placed to host participants from all over the Nordics, Germany and the UK.

Since the GDPR came into force in 2018, the demand for legal technical solutions to streamline the management of personal data has increased. Pinteg and Moll Wendén Advokatbyrå have started a collaboration with the ambition to raise the standard of data protection work in Sweden.

Pinteg and Moll Wendén Advokatbyrå have initiated a collaboration with the aim of facilitating organisations in their handling of personal data. Through their work within the field, both parties have realised that a substantial amount of organisations perceive data protection as complex, and therefore avoid it. Moll Wendén’s legal expertise, combined with Pinteg’s software skills, forms a strong foundation for a comprehensive offering. The solution offered is a combination of an easy-to-use tool with advisory services, specifically aimed at organisations that are challenged by dealing with GDPR issues themselves.

The partnership entails a combination of Pinteg’s and Moll Wendén’s extensive expertise and resources to offer innovative and comprehensive data protection solutions. The purpose is to meet the increasing need from companies, organisations and individuals to handle personal data in a respectful and accurate way.

The cooperation aims to create the following effects:

– Pinteg and Moll Wendén share the same vision of ensuring the highest level of data protection and privacy in an easier way. This collaboration is an expression of our common commitment to help organisations meet the increased demands from authorities and individuals, says Patrik Persson at Pinteg.

– Most organisations put in a lot of work when the GDPR came into force in 2018, which created a foundation and good conditions for further progress, says Simon Wilkens, associate at Moll Wendén Advokatbyrå. It is my belief that organisations now are beginning to realise that they need to work with data management and processes on an ongoing basis. Just like many other things in an organisation, personal data management also changes over time. Something that can therefore be challenging – especially given that more and more is being digitised and digitalised – is to get an overview of the entire organisation’s data management. Fairity can provide support in developing a structure and clearity concerning the process of ensuring that personal data management is compliant.

The collaboration between Pinteg and Moll Wendén is intended to offer customers a simpler and higher level of assistance in their ongoing data protection work. This is particularly important as industry compliance scrutiny increases for all organisations handling personal data: from non-profit sports clubs and housing associations to large corporations and public sector entities.

The jazz association declared its wholly owned limited company Jazzklubben Nefertiti AB bankrupt in the spring of 2020. The company’s operations, including associated rental premises and intellectual property rights, were acquired in a closed auction by the buyer Nef Swe AB (Nef), with the aim of saving the legendary club scene that Nefertiti represents in Gothenburg.

In the business acquired by the receiver there were two trademark applications, to which the jazz association claimed to have a better right. The association did not want the buyers to be allowed to use the Nefertiti brand at all for the operations at Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6 in Gothenburg. The jazz association therefore objected to registration with PRV and subsequently sued Nef in court.

The Patent and Market Court has now decided the matter as the first instance, on 20 June 2022. The Jazz Association’s action is dismissed because no better right to the trademark applications (Nefertiti) has been shown in the case. The court states, among other things, that the activities of the association and the subsidiary were conducted together and that the trademark was largely used as a location determinant for the club at Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6 in Gothenburg, which has been run by the subsidiary since 1982. If the judgment gains legal force, the processing of trademark applications at PRV will resume.

Moll Wendén, through David Klose and Simon Wilkens, represented the buyer Nef in the case. More information about the activities at Nefertiti at Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6 can be found on nefertiti.se.
